Q1. Why are the grassy common areas around Civano Neighborhood 1 watered
multiple times during the day for the duration of the hot weather? Q1. Why are the grassy common areas around Civano Neighborhood 1 watered multiple times during the day for the duration of the hot weather? A1. During hot weather the common area reclaimed watering schedule is set for four (4) times a day. We have installed very high quality, non-allergic, hybrid grass turf that tolerates our summer heat to provide the community with comfortable gathering and play topareas. Q2. Why do the landscapers spray for weeds on the common areas of Civano Neighborhood 1? A2. The landscapers apply a pre-emergent herbicide to foster weed control by preventing weed seeds from geminating throughout the vast common areas of Civano. Pre-emergent herbicide is the least toxic method to control weeds in the entire community. It stops weeds before they start and reduces the need for additional chemicals later in the season. With 1.2 million square feet of decomposed granite in Civano, pre-emergent is also the most economical way to control weeds in our community. You may observe evidence of the spraying when the gravel in the median strips turns blue just before it rains. The blue color is a simple dye that allows the landscapers to see where they have already sprayed. All chemicals used in Civano are EPA-registered and undergo a wide variety of both short-term acute and long-term chronic test prior to registration. In addressing the application and use of pre-emergent herbicide, our landscapers are licensed to apply herbicide by the Structural Pest Control Commission (SPCC) under Weed Tech. They also operate under a policy of using the minimum amount of diluted spray material applied at the most effective time for control of weeds. This policy was developed due to concern for the environment and the safety of the community and the landscapers applying the topherbicide. Q3. Where can I go in Civano Neighborhood 1 to mail letters? A3. The only outgoing mailbox in Civano Neighborhood 1 is located on the north side of the Neighborhood Center just west of the doors to the hall leading to the bathrooms. All outgoing mail for Civano is picked up during regular mail service Monday through topSaturday. |
